Analog Driving Freedom

by Kristian Jaeger, Washington

Every time I’m driving on roads in my ’75 Alfa GTV 2000, it feels like the a truly analog and freeing experience. The extra power, from the 2-liter hot street engine with 183 hp and 176-foot pounds of torque, dials everything up, so the engine, chassis, and the responsive throttle are all at my disposal. The throttle actually feels like a volume knob for the whole experience now. This lightweight Italian design is really smooth on back roads, accelerating from stop, and through tight turns like roundabouts. The engine and the gearbox all feel more alive because the extra torque means every small input has a clear, satisfying response. Some say meditation is good for relieving stress but I feel like the Alfa has that beat hands down.
