I am back in Franklin for a couple weeks for Christmas and I am driving my ’78 Spider daily since I left my daily Giulia in Florida this winter. I thought I would drop you a note to tell you how life with the Ingram-built Stage 2 engine is going. It’s been about 6 years since I installed it and it fired on the second try by the way. It was another couple years before I got it on the road. It has performed flawlessly and I love the sound. You told me to put the resonator back on and you were correct, the note is enjoyable.
I originally thought I might autocross it some but I have not, maybe in the future. I have put 800-900 miles on it mostly in town. What I love about driving in town is I can easily accelerate with all the modern cars and they get to enjoy the gear changes and the sound. It really sings at 5000+ and I am confident driving it anywhere. I had a couple small oil leaks and that’s it. It runs clean and the 123 Ignition and Spica Stage 2 pump you built are reliable and fast. I actually checked my differential ratio because it runs through the revs so quickly. I have 195/55/R15 tires and they are a bit smaller in circumference than the original 165/80/R14s. I think this is why I keep auto-crossing in the back of my mind.
It’s been fun driving it more than usual these last couple of weeks and I wish I had it in sunny Florida with me this winter. Take care and thanks for the performance and reliability you gave me.
